- `Sorry, I mean...`
- `Actually, I mean...`
- `Let me correct that.`
- `What I meant to say was...`
इन phrases का tone neutral और polite होता है। ये meeting, class, interview, या normal conversation—सब जगह काम आते हैं। उदाहरण के लिए:
- `Sorry, I mean next Friday, not this Friday.`
- `What I meant to say was, I sent the email yesterday.`
ध्यान रहे, यहाँ आप सिर्फ अपनी बात ठीक कर रहे हैं। ज़रूरत से ज़्यादा explain करने की नहीं।
जब sentence को smoother तरीके से बदलना हो
कभी-कभी आपको लगे कि जो आपने कहा, वह ठीक तो है, लेकिन बेहतर ढंग से कहा जा सकता है। तब ये phrases ज़्यादा natural लगते हैं:
- `Let me put it another way.`
- `In other words...`
- `To be more specific...`
- `Actually, a better way to say that is...`
ये phrases खासकर तब अच्छे लगते हैं जब आप थोड़ा thoughtful या careful sound करना चाहते हैं। अगर आप customer, colleague, या teacher से बात कर रहे हैं, तो `Let me put it another way.` बहुत उपयोगी है।
उदाहरण:
- `Let me put it another way. I’m available in the afternoon, not in the morning.`
- `To be more specific, I started the job in June.`
जब आपने गलत जानकारी बोल दी हो
अगर आपने date, number, name, या detail गलत बोल दी है, तो correction सीधा और साफ़ होना चाहिए। ऐसे में यह बोलना बेहतर रहता है:
- `Sorry, that's not right.`
- `I made a mistake.`
- `Actually, the correct date is Monday.`
- `No, sorry — I mean 15th, not 50th.`
यहाँ important बात यह है कि correction के साथ confusion कम हो। English में बार-बार “sorry” कहना ज़रूरी नहीं, लेकिन एक बार politely कहना ठीक रहता है।
जब आप रुककर खुद को सुधार रहे हों
बोलते समय कभी-कभी आप बीच में ही समझ जाते हैं कि sentence सही नहीं बन रहा। ऐसे में filler की तरह ये छोटे signals मदद करते हैं:
- `Sorry—`
- `I mean—`
- `Actually—`
- `No, let me say that again.`
इसी तरह `What I meant to say was...` थोड़ा लंबा है, लेकिन interview, explanation, या detailed बात में बहुत अच्छा लगता है।
