कभी-कभी समस्या बहुत बड़ी नहीं होती, लेकिन उसे English में ठीक से कहना मुश्किल लगता है। घर में light चली गई, socket काम नहीं कर रहा, या पूरे flat में बिजली गई है—ऐसी स्थिति में घबराने की नहीं, बस साफ़ और छोटा वाक्य बोलने की ज़रूरत होती है।
बिजली चली गई हो तो क्या कहें
अगर पूरे घर या room में बिजली नहीं है, तो ये phrases काम आते हैं:
- The power is out.
- There’s a power cut.
- The electricity is out.
इन तीनों में The power is out और There’s a power cut सबसे natural लगते हैं। अगर आप किसी को केवल situation बताना चाहते हैं, तो यह काफी है।
अगर अभी-अभी बिजली गई है, तो आप कह सकते हैं:
- The power just went out.
- We have no electricity right now.
यहाँ just went out से पता चलता है कि घटना अभी हुई है।
जब समस्या सिर्फ आपके घर या कमरे में हो
कभी problem पूरे building में नहीं, सिर्फ आपके area में होती है। ऐसे में यह कहना ज़्यादा साफ़ होता है:

- The lights are not working.

fuse, trip, और short circuit के लिए phrases
Hindi-speaking learners अक्सर fuse trip ho gaya के लिए सीधा English ढूँढते हैं। आम बातचीत में आप यह कह सकते हैं:

- The power has gone off.

मदद माँगते समय कैसे बोलें

Could you please थोड़ा polite और formal है। Can you भी ठीक है, लेकिन setting के हिसाब से थोड़ा direct लग सकता है। अगर आप landlord को message कर रहे हैं, तो यह बेहतर है:

- The power has been off since morning.

अगर repair person को detail देनी हो
कभी आपको सिर्फ “बिजली नहीं है” नहीं, बल्कि समस्या थोड़ी साफ़ बतानी होती है। तब ये sentences काम आते हैं:

- The power goes off and comes back on.
- One socket is working, but the other one is not.
- There is a burning smell near the switchboard.
इनमें flicker का मतलब है light का बार-बार हल्का-सा कांपना या झपकना। यह रोज़मर्रा की English में useful है, खासकर जब power stable न हो।
अगर किसी चीज़ को तुरंत unplug करने की जरूरत हो, तो:

लेकिन main switch कहने से पहले context सही होना चाहिए, क्योंकि हर जगह वही शब्द use नहीं होता।
एक-दूसरे के करीब लगने वाले phrases
Power cut, power outage, और electricity problem सब एक ही तरह की बात नहीं लगते।
- Power cut आम, रोज़मर्रा की English में बहुत natural लगता है।
- Power outage थोड़ा more formal है, news या written communication में भी दिखता है।
