कई बार दिक्कत English की नहीं होती, दिक्कत यह होती है कि सामने वाला plumber, electrician, mechanic, या general repairman हो और आपको बस साफ़-साफ़ बताना हो कि क्या खराब है। ऐसे समय पर लंबी English नहीं चाहिए। छोटे, सीधे sentences ज्यादा काम आते हैं।
शुरुआत में क्या कहें
अगर आपने किसी को घर बुलाया है, तो बातचीत बहुत simple रखी जा सकती है:
- Hi, thanks for coming.
- I have a problem with the sink.
- The fan is not working properly.
- The light keeps flickering.
यहाँ not working properly और keeps flickering जैसे phrases बहुत natural लगते हैं। आप exact technical language नहीं जानते, तब भी basic description देना काफी होता है।
खराबी बताने के लिए useful phrases
सबसे पहले problem को short sentence में बताइए:
- It started yesterday.
- It was working fine this morning.
- Now it makes a strange noise.
- There is a leak under the sink.
- The switch is loose.
अगर आपको problem clear नहीं है, तो यह भी कह सकते हैं:
- I’m not sure what the issue is.
- Could you please check it?
- Something seems wrong with it.
यह wording polite भी है और safe भी। आप बिना guess किए repairman से inspection मांग रहे हैं।
जब आप detail बताना चाहें
कभी-कभी सिर्फ “it’s broken” कहने से बात पूरी नहीं होती। तब थोड़ी detail जोड़िए:
- The water is leaking from the pipe.
- The door doesn’t close properly.
- The AC is blowing warm air.
- The socket is not getting power.
अगर repairman को location बतानी हो, तो practical phrases काम आते हैं:
- It’s in the bathroom.
- The problem is in the kitchen.
- The wire near the TV is damaged.
ऐसी English में perfect grammar से ज्यादा clarity matter करती है।
सवाल पूछने के लिए phrases
Repairman से बात करते समय आप सिर्फ problem नहीं बताते, बल्कि यह भी पूछते हैं कि क्या होगा, कितना समय लगेगा, और क्या करना चाहिए:
- How long will it take?
- Can you fix it today?
- Do you need any parts?
- How much will it cost?
- Should I turn it off?
How much will it cost? बहुत common सवाल है। यह direct है, rude नहीं। अगर आप थोड़े soft तरीके से पूछना चाहें, तो:
- Could you give me an estimate?
यह phrase तब अच्छा लगता है जब आपको approximate cost जाननी हो।
Repairman की बात समझने में काम आने वाले जवाब
कभी-कभी सामने वाला आपसे कुछ जल्दी-जल्दी पूछता है। ऐसे में ये छोटे जवाब बहुत उपयोगी हैं:
- Yes, please go ahead.
- No problem.
- Please take a look.
- That’s fine.
- Let me check.
- I’ll be back in a minute.
अगर वह कहे कि कोई part बदलना पड़ेगा, तो आप पूछ सकते हैं:
- Is it necessary to replace it?
- Can it be repaired instead?
ये दोनों phrases useful हैं, खासकर जब आपको सिर्फ fixing नहीं, option समझना हो।
Polite और practical tone कैसे रखें
Repairman से बात करते समय बहुत formal English की जरूरत नहीं होती, लेकिन blunt भी नहीं होना चाहिए। Fix this now जैसी line बहुत direct है और कई situations में rude लग सकती है। इसके बजाय:
- Could you please fix this?
- When can you come?
- Please let me know if you need anything.
यह tone सहज भी है और respectful भी। अगर आप घर पर किसी को access दे रहे हैं, तो Please let me know if you need anything एक अच्छा, normal sentence है।
छोटा sample conversation
- Hi, thanks for coming.
- The sink is leaking under the counter.
- Can you check it?
- Yes, I think it may need a new pipe.
- How long will it take?
- About an hour.
- Okay, please go ahead.

एक बात जिस पर ध्यान देना चाहिए
“Repairman” एक broad word है। सामने वाला plumber भी हो सकता है, electrician भी, appliance repair person भी। इसलिए exact job title याद न हो तो भी कोई दिक्कत नहीं। आप बस problem साफ़ बताइए: water, power, noise, leak, broken part, loose switch. यही असली काम आता है।
