- There is a plumbing problem.
- The sink is blocked.
- The toilet is leaking.
- There’s a water leak under the sink.
- The water pressure is very low.
इनमें “plumbing problem” एक general phrase है। यह ठीक तब काम आता है जब अभी detail याद न हो। लेकिन उसके बाद जितना specific बता सकें, उतना अच्छा है। उदाहरण के लिए The sink is blocked सीधे बताता है कि sink से पानी नहीं जा रहा। The toilet is leaking का मतलब है कि toilet से पानी रिस रहा है।
Problem को साफ़ तरीके से बताना
प्लंबिंग की दिक्कत में दो चीज़ें बताना useful रहता है: समस्या क्या है, और कहाँ है।
- The tap in the kitchen is dripping.
- The bathroom sink is clogged.
- The shower is not draining properly.
- Water is leaking from the pipe.
- The flush is not working.
ध्यान दें कि dripping और leaking एक जैसे नहीं हैं। Dripping तब कहेंगे जब पानी बूंद-बूंद टपक रहा हो। Leaking तब जब पानी निकल रहा हो और यह छोटी या बड़ी, दोनों तरह की समस्या हो सकती है। Clogged या blocked का मतलब है कि पाइप या drain बंद है।
अगर आप plumber को बता रहे हैं, तो यह sentence भी काम का है:
> The drain in the bathroom is blocked, and water is backing up.
यह थोड़ा advanced लगता है, लेकिन बहुत natural है। Backing up यहाँ बताता है कि पानी नीचे नहीं जा रहा और ऊपर की ओर जमा हो रहा है।
जब आप कारण नहीं जानते
कभी-कभी आपको बस इतना पता होता है कि कुछ ठीक नहीं है। तब यह कहना बिल्कुल ठीक है:
- Something is wrong with the sink.
- I think there is a leak somewhere.
- The water is not coming out properly.
- I’m not sure what the problem is, but the bathroom floor keeps getting wet.
- Could you please check the pipes?
- Can someone come and fix it today?
- I need a plumber as soon as possible.
- Please send someone to look at it.
- How long will it take to repair?
ये वाक्य polite हैं और रोज़मर्रा की English में बिल्कुल ठीक लगते हैं। Could you please... थोड़ा ज़्यादा polite है। Can someone come... direct है, लेकिन rude नहीं। अगर situation urgent हो, तो आप यह भी कह सकते हैं:
> It’s getting worse, so I need someone to check it soon.
English phrases.
एक useful example:
> The kitchen tap is leaking, and the water valve may need to be checked.
यह sentence थोड़ा technical है, लेकिन बहुत ज़्यादा भारी नहीं। अगर आप valve word नहीं जानते, तो सिर्फ़ leak और location बताना भी enough है।
आम गलतियाँ जिनसे बचना बेहतर है
कई learners सिर्फ़ “My pipe problem” या “Water issue” जैसे छोटे-छोटे phrases बोल देते हैं। इन्हें समझा तो जा सकता है, लेकिन ये natural नहीं लगते। There is a problem with the pipe या The pipe is leaking ज़्यादा साफ़ और सही है।
> A: What’s the problem?
> B: The bathroom sink is blocked, and water is leaking under it.
> A: Okay, I’ll send someone to check it.
यही वह तरह की English है जो daily life में सच में काम आती है — साफ़, छोटी, और situation के हिसाब से सीधी।
