घर बदलते समय बात सिर्फ packing की नहीं होती। कभी landlord से बात करनी पड़ती है, कभी movers को instruction देना होता है, कभी utility connection के बारे में पूछना होता है, और कभी नए address पर delivery या visit explain करना पड़ता है। ऐसे में कुछ सीधी, काम की English phrases बहुत मदद करती हैं।
Packing और shifting के लिए basic phrases
अगर आप सामान समेट रहे हैं, तो ये phrases बार-बार काम आएँगी:
- We’re moving house next week. — हम अगले हफ्ते घर बदल रहे हैं।
- I need some boxes for packing. — मुझे packing के लिए कुछ boxes चाहिए।
- Please handle the fragile items carefully. — कृपया नाज़ुक सामान संभालकर रखें।
- This box is full of kitchen items. — इस box में kitchen का सामान है।
- Where should I keep the packed bags? — packed bags कहाँ रखूँ?
यहाँ moving house आमतौर पर घर बदलने के लिए बोला जाता है। सिर्फ moving कह देना भी कई बार ठीक है, लेकिन moving house ज़्यादा साफ़ है जब बात घर बदलने की हो।
Movers या shifting service से बात करना
अगर आपको shifting service या helpers से बात करनी है, तो आदेश देने की बजाय clear instructions देना बेहतर रहता है:
- Please put this box in the living room.
- These items should go first.
- This one is heavy, so please be careful.
- Can you move the sofa a little to the left?
- Let me know when the truck arrives.
Can you…? और Please… दोनों polite लगते हैं। बहुत direct Move it there जैसा वाक्य कभी-कभी रूखा सुनाई दे सकता है, खासकर जब आप किसी helper या mover से बात कर रहे हों।
Landlord, agent, या building office से बात करते समय

शिफ्ट होने के बाद सबसे practical problem होती है नया address समझाना:

- I’ve recently moved here.

- Deliver it to my new place, please.
- The entrance is on the side street.
अगर कोई आपके पुराने address पर चीज़ भेज रहा है, तो आप कह सकते हैं:
- I no longer live there.
- Please send it to my new address.
- The address has changed.
यह phrases छोटे हैं, लेकिन email, message, courier call, या society office—हर जगह काम आते हैं। खासकर जब आप Delivery और courier से बात करने के लिए English phrases भी पढ़ चुके हों, तो नया address explain करना और आसान हो जाता है।
Utility connections और final checks
घर बदलते समय बिजली, पानी, internet, और गैस जैसी चीज़ों पर भी बात करनी पड़ सकती है:

- When will the electricity be activated?
- The water connection is not working yet.
- I need to transfer the service to my new address.
- Could you check the meter reading, please?
अगर आपको bills या account-related बात करनी है, तो Utility bills के लिए English phrases भी साथ में useful रहेगा। कई बार shifting के समय यही बात सबसे ज़्यादा उलझाती है—कौन सा bill बंद करना है, कौन सा transfer करना है, और किस date से नई service शुरू होगी।
एक छोटी सी बात जो अक्सर गलत हो जाती है
कई learners move house, move out, और shift को एक ही तरह से इस्तेमाल करना चाहते हैं। Hindi में हम अक्सर “shift करना” बोल देते हैं, लेकिन English में context के हिसाब से phrase चुनना पड़ता है।
- move house = घर बदलना
- move out = किसी जगह से निकलकर जाना, खासकर rented place छोड़ना
- move in = नई जगह रहने आना
