Since और for दोनों time बताने के लिए use होते हैं, लेकिन इनका मतलब अलग है।

  • since = किसी starting point से
  • for = किसी duration / period के लिए

Since कब use करें?

जब आपको बताना हो कि कोई काम कब से चल रहा है, तब since use करें। इसके बाद कोई exact point आता है, जैसे:

इन sentences में since के बाद starting point दिया गया है।

For कब use करें?

जब आपको बताना हो कि कोई काम कितने समय से चल रहा है, तब for use करें। इसके बाद time period आता है, जैसे:

एक simple सवाल पूछिए:

  • कितने समय से?for

Since और For के साथ कौन सा tense आता है?

Since और for अक्सर present perfect और present perfect continuous tense में आते हैं।

Present perfect

  • I have known him since 2020.
  • She has worked here for three years.

Present perfect continuous

  • I have been learning English since January.
  • He has been studying for three hours.

अगर sentence में काम अभी भी चल रहा है, तो ये tenses बहुत common हैं।

1) Subject + have/has + verb3 + since + point in time

2) Subject + have/has + verb3 + for + period

  • I have lived here for 10 years.
  • She has been here for two hours.

3) Subject + have/has been + verb-ing + since/for

  • They have been playing since 5 p.m.
  • They have been playing for two hours.

Common mistakes

1. Wrong: I have been here for Monday.

Right: I have been here since Monday.

2. Wrong: She has worked here since five years.

Right: She has worked here for five years.

3. Wrong: We have waited since two hours.

Right: We have waited for two hours.
