फोन पर English बोलते समय सबसे बड़ी दिक्कत अक्सर vocabulary नहीं, timing होती है। सामने वाला जल्दी में बोल रहा होता है, आप नाम सुन नहीं पाते, या किसी कॉल में बस इतना कहना होता है: “one moment, please” — लेकिन दिमाग में Hindi आकर रुक जाता है। ऐसे में कुछ तय phrases याद हों तो कॉल बहुत smooth हो जाती है।
कॉल शुरू करना
कॉल उठाते ही या शुरुआत में ये phrases बहुत काम आते हैं:
- Hello, this is Rahul speaking.
यह अपने-आप को बताने का सीधा और polite तरीका है। “speaking” का इस्तेमाल phone calls में natural लगता है।
- May I speak to Mr. Khan, please?
इसका tone औपचारिक और respectful है। किसी specific person से बात करनी हो तो यह बहुत सामान्य phrase है।
- Could I talk to someone in accounts?
जब department पूछना हो या सही व्यक्ति तक पहुँचना हो, यह practical phrase है।
अगर सामने वाला आपको सुनकर पहचान नहीं रहा, तो आप कह सकते हैं: It’s Neha from Delhi. यहाँ “from” location या पहचान बताने के लिए natural लगता है।
जब आवाज़ साफ़ न सुनाई दे
फोन पर सबसे common situation यही होती है। तब ये phrases याद रखें:
- Sorry, I can’t hear you properly.
- Could you speak a little slower, please?
- The line is breaking up.
- Could you repeat that, please?
इनमें से I can’t hear you properly सुनने में direct है, लेकिन rude नहीं है। Could you… please? का उपयोग tone को polite रखता है। “repeat” बोलना awkward नहीं है; phone call में यह बिल्कुल normal है।
कॉल रोकना, hold करना, और वापस आना
कई बार आपको किसी से पूछना होता है या computer check करना होता है। ऐसे में:
- One moment, please.
- Please hold for a moment.
- Let me check that for you.
- Thanks for waiting.
यहाँ “hold” phone context में बहुत common है। अगर आप खुद कॉल पर hold हुए हैं, तो I’ll wait. कह सकते हैं।
कभी-कभी लोग जल्दबाज़ी में “wait me” जैसा कुछ बोलने की कोशिश करते हैं, लेकिन phone पर सही natural phrases वही हैं जो ऊपर दिए गए हैं।
संदेश लेना या छोड़ना
अगर आप किसी के लिए message लेना चाहते हैं:
- Can I take a message?
- Could you leave a message, please?
- I’ll let them know you called.
take a message phone calls में एक fixed phrase की तरह काम करता है। इसका मतलब सिर्फ इतना है कि आप सामने वाले का संदेश लिख रहे हैं या आगे पहुँचा रहे हैं।
कॉल बंद करते समय
फोन खत्म करते समय बहुत भारी language की जरूरत नहीं होती। ये phrases enough हैं:
- Thanks for calling.
- Have a nice day.
- I’ll call you back later.
- Let’s speak again tomorrow.
अगर आप पहले से तय कर रहे हों कि बाद में बात करेंगे, तो I’ll call you back सबसे natural लगता है। “call you again” भी समझ में आता है, लेकिन रोज़मर्रा की phone conversation में call you back ज़्यादा common है।
