फोन पर interview में सबसे बड़ी चुनौती यह होती है कि सामने वाला आपको देख नहीं रहा होता। इसलिए आपकी आवाज़, clear जवाब, और छोटे लेकिन polished phrases ज़्यादा काम आते हैं। ऐसे मौके पर बहुत लंबी lines याद रखने की ज़रूरत नहीं होती। कुछ simple English phrases पहले से तैयार हों, तो बात सहज रहती है।
कॉल उठाते समय क्या कहें
अगर recruiter या interviewer का call आता है, तो शुरुआत बहुत औपचारिक भी नहीं होनी चाहिए, और बहुत casual भी नहीं। आप कह सकते हैं:
- Hello, this is Riya speaking.
- Good morning, this is Aman.
- Yes, I’m available to talk now.
यहाँ this is ... speaking फोन पर पहचान बताने का natural तरीका है। “I am Riya” भी गलत नहीं है, लेकिन call पर “this is Riya speaking” ज़्यादा standard लगता है।
अगर आप अभी बात नहीं कर सकते, तो सीधे और politely कहें:
- I’m in a meeting right now. Could I call you back in 10 minutes?
- I’m sorry, can I speak later today?
इस तरह आप rude लगे बिना समय मांग लेते हैं।
फोन इंटरव्यू में अपनी availability बताना
कई बार interviewer अचानक call कर देता है। तब सबसे useful phrase है:
- Yes, this is a good time.
- I can talk now.
- Would you like to continue in English?
आख़िरी line तब useful होती है जब आपको भाषा बदलने की ज़रूरत हो, लेकिन इसे तभी बोलें जब सच में ज़रूरत हो। बेवजह कहने से interview awkward हो सकता है।
अगर आवाज़ साफ़ नहीं आ रही हो, तो यह कहना बेहतर है:
- I’m sorry, the line is a little unclear. Could you repeat that, please?
- Could you speak a little more slowly, please?
यह वाक्य politely मदद माँगते हैं, और interview में बिल्कुल normal माने जाते हैं।
अपना परिचय छोटे और साफ तरीके से दें
Phone interview में self-introduction भी सीधा होना चाहिए। लंबी story शुरू करने की ज़रूरत नहीं। आप कह सकते हैं:
- My name is Neha Sharma, and I’m applying for the marketing role.
- I currently work as a customer support executive.
- I have three years of experience in sales.

सवाल समझ न आए तो क्या बोलें
Interviewer का question समझ न आए, तो अंदाज़ा लगाकर जवाब देना risky है। Better है साफ़ clarification माँगना:
- Sorry, could you repeat the question?
- I’m not sure I understood that. Could you say it again, please?
- Do you mean my previous experience or my current role?
यह last line खास तौर पर useful है जब सवाल थोड़ा broad हो। इससे आपको direction मिलती है और आप irrelevant जवाब नहीं देते।
जवाब देते समय tone कैसी रखें
फोन पर जवाब देते हुए बहुत तेज़ बोलना ठीक नहीं। न बहुत धीमे, न बहुत जल्दबाज़ी में। छोटे, complete sentences ज़्यादा safe रहते हैं:
- Yes, I’m available.
- I worked there for two years.
- I handled client communication and follow-ups.
- I’m interested in this role because it matches my background.
अगर आप अनुभव, skills, या previous job के बारे में बात कर रहे हैं, तो अलग से phrases याद करना बेहतर होता है। उसी के लिए पिछली नौकरियों के बारे में बात करने के लिए English Phrases और अपनी skills, strengths और abilities के बारे में English में कैसे बात करें जैसे pages उपयोगी हैं।
फोन पर बातचीत खत्म कैसे करें
अंत में interviewer को politely धन्यवाद देना चाहिए। कुछ natural options हैं:
- Thank you for your time today.
- I appreciate the opportunity to speak with you.
- Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you.
अगर next step पूछना हो, तो यह line भी ठीक रहती है:
- Could you please let me know what the next step will be?
यह formal है, लेकिन भारी नहीं लगता।
Phone interview में सबसे काम की बात यही है कि आपके phrases simple हों, voice steady हो, और जब समझ न आए तो आप confidently clarification माँग सकें। Over-trying से बेहतर है साफ़, polite, और direct English।
