Train station पर सबसे ज़्यादा काम वही English आती है जो सीधे काम की हो। आपको लंबा बोलने की ज़रूरत नहीं पड़ती; अक्सर बस ticket, platform, delay, seat और timing से जुड़ी कुछ साफ़ phrases काफी होती हैं।
Ticket और train पूछते समय
अगर आपको ticket लेना है, तो ये phrases बहुत स्वाभाविक लगती हैं:
- I'd like a ticket to Delhi.
यह सीधा और polite तरीका है। “I want a ticket” भी समझ में आता है, लेकिन I'd like ज़्यादा natural और polite लगता है।
- Which platform does the train leave from?
यह platform पूछने के लिए बहुत उपयोगी sentence है।
- What time does the train depart?
depart थोड़ा formal शब्द है, लेकिन train station पर अक्सर सुनाई दे जाता है।
- Is this the right train for Jaipur?
अगर आपको doubt है कि ट्रेन सही है या नहीं, तो यह बहुत काम का सवाल है।
अगर schedule समझना हो, तो आप पूछ सकते हैं:
- Is the train on time?
- Is there a delay?
- When is the next train?
यहाँ on time का मतलब है कि train अपने तय समय पर चल रही है। delay का मतलब देरी। स्टेशन पर यह शब्द बहुत आम है।
Platform, coach और seat के बारे में
कई बार असली confusion यही होता है कि कहाँ जाना है। ऐसे में ये phrases मदद करती हैं:
- Where is platform 5?
- Which coach is this?
- Is this seat taken?
- Is this the ladies' coach?
Is this seat taken? बहुत उपयोगी phrase है। इसका tone polite और neutral है। अगर कोई seat खाली लग रही हो, तब भी पूछना बेहतर रहता है।
अगर आपको अपनी reservation confirm करनी हो:
- I have a reservation.
- Here is my ticket.
- Can you please check my booking?
ये phrases खास तौर पर तब काम आते हैं जब आप counter staff या TTE/attendant से बात कर रहे हों।
Announcements समझने के लिए
Train station पर announcements तेज़ भी हो सकते हैं और साफ़ भी नहीं सुनाई देते। तब कुछ common words पहचानना फायदेमंद होता है:
- platform
- arrival
- departure
- delay
- next train
- final call
अगर announcement समझ नहीं आए, तो आप सीधे पूछ सकते हैं:
- Could you repeat that, please?
- Which platform is it?
- Did you say platform 3?
Could you repeat that, please? बहुत सुरक्षित और polite phrase है। स्टेशन पर इसे बोलने में कोई awkwardness नहीं होती।
छोटी लेकिन काम की बातें
कुछ phrases ऐसी हैं जो travel situations में बार-बार काम आती हैं, इसलिए इन्हें याद रखना बेहतर है:
- I'm looking for platform 2.
- Does this train stop at Agra?
- How long is the journey?
- Is there a restroom nearby?
- Where can I buy snacks?
ध्यान देने वाली बात यह है कि train station पर बहुत formal English की ज़रूरत नहीं होती। साफ़, छोटा और सीधे काम आने वाला वाक्य ज़्यादा अच्छा होता है। कई बार बस Excuse me कहकर सवाल शुरू करना भी conversation को smooth बना देता है:
- Excuse me, where is the ticket counter?
- Excuse me, which platform for this train?
